Steam piping in a sewerage treatment plant insulated and jacketed with stainless steel. The steam piping is insulated to keep it at its highest temperature and pressure to keep it from condensing back into water. Insulating steam piping is also very important for personnel protection to prevent maintenance personnel from getting burns and working in unbearably hot conditions. The stainless steel jacket is used because of the highly corrosive environment and to protect the insulation from physical abuse.
